hear thou my son and be wise

Image
Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old. Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice. My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men. Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to s...

meeting your maker

Image
Title : Meeting Your Maker "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 12:7" Devotion : The scripture above illustrates that there is an end to life on earth. The body returns to the earth and the spirit to God who gave it. Those who do not believe that there is another life after death should know that when life ends on earth the soul appears before God for judgment. For it is appointed unto men once to die and after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). Those who have the liberty to rejoice are the born again Christians because they have passed life on earth and have attained eternal life. They are judged for rewards but the unbeliever is judged unto damnation because he did not believe in Christ Jesus. Let us live in this world with the mindset that one day we will give account to God for our stewardship. The almighty God has made Jesus Christ the Judge to judge the living and the dead. Dear rea...

what are you following

Image
What Are You Following?  “Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.” 3 John 1:11 (KJV) You do what you follow and ultimately become what you follow. As a child of God, it is vital to be conscious of the things that are attracting you because whatever gets your attention is capable of influencing you for good or evil. No wonder the Apostle John exhorts Christians to follow or imitate what is good and shun evil. The one who practices good and has a godly character is of God, and the one who practices evil or tolerates evil has not seen God. Dear beloved, what are you imitating? If you are born again, then you are God’s seed. Thus you are capable of practicing good and shunning evil. If you still don’t know what is good, then follow Jesus Christ through the Word of God, and do whatever He does (Ephesians 5:1). Doing good works shows that we are the children of God and distinguishe...

Do you love God

Image
Do You Love God?  “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.” 2 John 1:6 (KJV) The Most High God is love. He loves His creation, especially human beings. He has such a unique relationship with human beings that even when sin came in to mar the relationship, He sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to restore it through His death on the cross. The sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cross of Calvary for the sin of mankind is the demonstration of His ultimate love for mankind. Dear beloved, there is no doubt about the love of God for you, but do you love God? It is a question we all need to answer. The first indication of loving God is accepting His gift of salvation. The second is carrying out His commandments, which are in the Holy Bible. Jesus Christ said, “If you love Me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Let us not merely do lip service but truly l...

are you still walking im darkness

Image
Are You Still Walking in Darkness?  “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:6–7 (KJV) Ignorance is responsible for the lack of progress in the lives of a lot of Christians. Ignorance can even lead to destruction. If darkness is used in scripture, we need to understand the context within which it is used. If it has nothing to do with the climate, then it will probably refer to sin and wickedness. When a person becomes born again, he or she is translated from darkness into the Kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13). Thus, God expects such a person to walk in the light of righteousness and holiness. Only those who walk in the light have fellowship with the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Dear beloved, do not love sin and wickedness, because they will destroy...

defeated foes

Title : Defeated Foes "And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:15" Devotion : Jesus Christ died and was buried. He went to hell on our behalf and defeated the devil and his cohorts of darkness and made public show of them on the cross. He demonstrated what was impossible with men and now has made it possible for believers in Him to continue to make public show of the devil and his cohorts of darkness by using the name of Jesus. At the mention of the name Jesus Christ of Nazareth, all knees bow, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. Dear reader, do you want to triumph over everything? Then use the name of Jesus Christ.
